1. The Portrait of the Reformers:
Congregational Library
Group portrait of Protestant reformers, one of many paintings of the same subject. Our copy used to be kept in the schoolroom of the Abbey Congregational Church (now U.R.C.), Romsey, Hants. It was rumoured to have come from Moyles Court, Ringwood, Hants., the home of Lady Alice Lisle (1617-85), who was sentenced to death by Judge Jeffreys for harbouring fugitives after the defeat of the Monmouth Rebellion.
