Dr Williams Bursaries

The Dr Willliamss Trust has partnered with the Institute of Historical Research, University of London, to support mid-career academics and scholars working in the field of British Protestant Dissent. Details of summer bursaries 2026 are available at:

The initiative complements the Trust's wish to encourage the study and awareness of the legacy of dissenting traditions in Britain and beyond. It strengthens the existing link with the IHR and also complements the separate partnership, recently finalised, with the University of Manchester. This will oversee the future management of the Trust's extensive collections, books and archives. It is anticipated that comparable bursaries and grants will be rolled out at Manchester in due course to encourage the wider use of the resources at the John Rylands Research Institute & Library .
